GJ HUDSON T/A POLY
CAMPERS & TRAILERS
BUSINESS PROFILE
The business is
based on many years of personal experience in the plastic
industry. My experience as a cost and works accountant has
been very use full in my business. I later I decided to
change to sail making and the canvas industry in1967. This
involved dealing with boat manufacturers and vehicle
manufacturers. The products included boat covers sails and
tonneau covers and hoods for the recreational vehicles
industry. I started building camper trailers in the early
1970's .
In 1980 I started building camper trailers in Australia and
have built many designs, types, and shapes of campers since
then. The dream was to produce a camper in poly. I have many
models to show for my efforts. In 2003 I had moulds made,
planning to sell the moulded products to camper trailer
manufacturers. After many attempts we got the shapes right
but made a bad decision to use MT foam filling to form
double skin tubs.
The “Production Program” is to use the moulds, efficiently,
making many designs, from a few moulds and using only one
chassis. The outer tray mould is used to create 3 camper
layouts using some of the other moulds to form the units.
The lid mould forms the inside of a camper lay out and
lid/floor for hard floor campers. These trays can be used
for side opening and rear opening or” front bed campers”,
and also hard and soft floor campers. These trays are used
for trailers, many designs of campers including slide-on
campers, and utility trays and can be used to make dog
floats.
The tents are either imported or locally made. Using only 2
or 3 tents to fit to a large number of camper styles,
creating 10 to 12 models - small adjustments only are
needed. Five floor designs are available, soft floors,
either sewn in or Velcro, hard floors, poly or/and ply and
aluminium. A fifth floor plan is “ patent pending”.
This “framed floor” expands to give a better and larger
floor layout. Australian Patent Application No 2005200801 A
better way to make a floor with no pegs to hold it down.
The 50 litre poly water tanks sit over the mudguards, one on
each side and are gravity fed, no pumps needed. A
provisional patent has been applied for a tropical roof for
campers with hard and soft floors.
We will be able to sell an exclusive area licence to allow
assemblers/manufacturers to manufacture about a dozen styles
of campers using only one chassis and two tents, either
imported or locally made. The range covers side and rear
opening campers. The side opening units available as hard
floor in three styles, soft floor and patented framed floors
with a heavy duty vinyl cover will be available in 1800mm
and 3600mm living room configurations. The tropical roof
assembly will be available for all these units with patent
applied for. Provisional Patent Application No 2008902641
The tents can be fitted to the bed base 2200mm x 1800mm or
directly to the poly camper. Steel 7ft x 4ft trailers can be
used with a bed base as per normal present campers. In some
cases these units can be fitted to utilities where the
height is not great
